Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are enjoying this great weather we are having. Fall is my absolute favorite time! I love flying over the color changing trees, the fall decorations and, of course, all the fall fashion. It's so fun to pull out the cute hats and boots this time of year!
So I left off discussing our recent trip to Colorado. I had talked about all the adventures we had in Colorado Springs and now I'm going to give you all the tips on places to visit in Breckenridge.
It's a two hour drive northwest of the springs, so we decided to take advantage of the small towns on our way. We came to this adorable town, with great views, called Woodland Park. We walked around to some shops and Aero posed for all the pictures haha. As we started to drive higher up in the mountains, the temperature became cooler. We were in need of lunch, so we stopped at this mountain town called Alma for some food truck food (Otto's Food Cart). I had the Quesadilla del Alma and ohhh was it good! It has black bean cilantro green chili, cheeses with caramelized peppers, onions and salsa. I love how 'vegetarian friendly' restaurants are in Colorado! It made choosing meals way easier for me.
We arrived at Breckenridge and I knew immediately that I was going to love this place. So many cute shops, restaurants, and galleries to explore. We booked a small one bedroom, one bath, Airbnb right up from the main street. I loved waking up early to sip my tea with the window open to enjoy the cool morning air. It had been so hot in Arkansas, so waking up to this 40 degree weather was fantastic. Our first day, we gathered our hiking gear and rode the aerial gondolas to the top of the mountain. We found some trails and started hiking til we couldn't hike anymore haha. We made our way back down to the bottom of the mountain and grabbed one of their local beers. We sat on the patio and talked about how fun it would be to gather a group of friends to come to Breck during the winter and learn to ski and snowboard. After we rode back down the gondolas toward the village, we could see Aero was exhausted! We took her back to the house for an afternoon nap. While in Breck, we enjoyed some flavorful breakfast, lunch and dinners
\} from many different restaurants around the village. One of our favorites being Crepes A la Cart where I had the funky french monkey with chocolate, peanut butter and bananas and Daniel had the cheese cake crepe with graham cracker and chantilly cream. YUM!
The following few days, we decided to drive to some small cities around the area. One of those days we visited Vail. They also had many shops to choose from and beautiful streams flowing everywhere. Also, if you're into bike riding, Vail is super bike friendly. You can rent them there and take them up all the trails around the mountains. The next day, we went to Georgetown where we climbed aboard the Georgetown Loop. This historic train showed us some amazing views of the nearby mountains. It was a little over an hour ride to Silver Plume, Colorado and back. We kept our eyes open for mountain goats and elk, but we didn't have much luck that day.
We made our way back to Breck for our last night. Aero got to sit outside with us while we had some drinks at Breckenridge Brewery. We then went to this unique boat restaurant on the water called Ollie's Pub & Grub for dinner. Everything was so delicious!
Breckenridge is such a unique village to stay & visit with adorable colorful buildings. It has so much personality and I cannot wait to go back for a ski trip next year! Have you ever visited Breck? Did you go during the summer or winter? I would love to hear all your tips on Breck, especially for winter-time since we are planning our ski trip!
I hope you enjoyed reading about our time in Breckenridge and consider taking a trip there one day! The road-trip isn't over yet though! Stay tuned for my final post about our time in Fort Collins, CO.
Thank you all for taking the time to check out my blog post today!
Love yourself xoxo
