AERO BEA

Happy Friday to all! So, the month of February is always a super busy month for me. I have like 4 major birthdays and Valentine’s Day to plan and buy for. Then to add to the chaos, Daniel and I added another member to our little fur family! We are now parents to a sweet 6 week old, female aussiedoodle. Her name is Aero Bea! We chose the name “Aero” because we are both pilots and it just seemed like a unique name for her. We also added the name “Bea” since it‘s Daniels late-grandmothers first name and we picked her up on her birthday.

On February 9th, the owner came to meet us and brought two puppies for us to choose from. One was female and the other was male. We could tell the female was a lot smaller and sure enough she was the runt of the 7 puppies that were born. I thought she was beautiful! Her little speckled nose and sweet puppy eyes made me fall in love quickly! Daniel really liked her too and that’s when we knew she was the one.

The first night at the house was a little rough. We woke up about 4 times to take her outside to use the bathroom. Daniel and I didn’t know that taking care of a puppy was practically like taking care of a human child! We were surprised about how much supervision and attention she needed.

Last week, we took her for her first vet check-up and the doc said she is looking super healthy and will need to come back in 3 weeks for her second round of puppy shots. The next day, I hosted a birthday party at the house for all the friends who had birthdays this month. We had a blast! It was Mardi Gras themed! We had a taco bar with margaritas, a piñata full of candy and the birthday cake was a king cake from Community Bakery here in Little Rock. It was so delicious and they make their king cakes year round! I can't wait to try all their other delicious treats! Aero Bea also got to visit with everyone for the first time. She had so much fun running around in the backyard and giving puppy kisses to all the new friends!

We’ve almost had Aero for a month and we both still feel like we have tons to learn about puppy training. We are constantly getting advice from other dog owners, watching countless YouTube videos, and reading articles. We need help!! I just ordered the book “How to Raise the Perfect Dog” by Cesar Millan. I’m excited to read it and takeaway all the tips & tricks to making our sweet puppy, one day, a well-behaved sweet dog.

If you know anything about puppies and would like to give some feedback on how to train them, we would for sure appreciate it! She is having the most trouble with play biting, jumping and of course the potty training. We are trying our best to stay patient with her!
