Happy Sunday morning! I know I haven’t been posting much about what has been going on recently, but I haven’t really traveled anywhere worth sharing until this month. Work has had me busy since the beginning of this year, non-stop. I did take a couple of trips in June that I would like to share with you all.
Being in the military, we are required to travel some places for different types of training. This month we took a trip down to Austin, Texas! I had been to Austin for NYE back in 2018, but this trip was a good refresher of the area. If you have ever been down to Austin before and have heard the slogan “keep Austin weird”, the locals definitely have kept up with that. Austin has its own weirdness compared to other cities in Texas, but I enjoyed all the weirdness it had to offer!
Austin is very known for their flavorful food. Between different trainings during the day, we managed to venture out and find some tasty stuff. Out of all of the places I went, my favorite two places were taco trucks haha! Both were so good & I got to try my very first cactus taco. Literally the best thing I had while I was down there! Paprika ATX, cactus tacos…go try them! You will thank me lol
Another taco truck I liked a lot was called Hot Taco’s. I tried their vegan tacos which included cauliflower, black beans, pineapple and other veggies. Great combination for a taco! This truck is located on Rainey street, which is one of the more popular streets in Austin. We found this truck along with several others in a little roundabout, shaded area with picnic tables. Some of my friends tried a lobster truck in that area and said it was also really delicious. You have a infinite amount of food options in Austin! I, of course, love how vegetarian friendly this city is. Everywhere I went had something vegetarian for me to eat! We also tried a Mediterranean restaurant for dinner one night called Mezze Café. I had a very tasty falafel and tried my first cup of Turkish tea. It was different, but still really good. I’m always up to try something new and Austin is a great place to do it! Then of course we had to make a trip to Voodoo Doughnut for a sweet treat. The blueberry cake donut was yum!
We drove down to San Marcos to visit the Commemorative Air Force Exhibit. It’s attached to the San Marcos airport in a 1943 vintage wooden hangar full of war aircraft. I loved seeing the display of women pilots and reading about Jacqueline Cochran. It was a nice touch of aviation history to add to our trip!
For early June, Austin was very hot! We did get some beautiful sunset and city views. We had several other places we would of liked to visit if we had the time, but more reasons to go back! If you have ever made your way down to Austin, I would love to hear what you did and what you recommend. Please subscribe and add your comments.
Check back soon to see what trip I took next!
Love yourself xoxo
